New Director Appointed

NWorth are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director to the Trials Unit; Professor Paul Brocklehurst. Paul joined us in mid-May, from Manchester University and along with his leadership & expertise, all the team at NWorth are looking forward to a new & exciting phase for the future research & dissemination of trials from the Trials Unit.

Professor Paul Brocklehurst is a mixed-methods researcher whose main areas of academic interest lie in public health and primary care. To date, his grant income has explored the efficacy, effectiveness and efficiency of role-substitution in NHS service provision. He is also interested in diagnostic test accuracy methodologies and in screening for both common oral diseases and oral malignancy in primary care. He is a member of the Primary Care Group of the National Cancer Research Institute and a Contact Editor for the Cochrane Oral Health Group.

Professor Paul Brocklehurst was until recently a NIHR Clinician Scientist and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health at the University of Manchester. Grant capture to date as a Chief Investigator is over £1.8M. The impact of his work has led to a major policy changes by the health-care regulator in dentistry. He is currently CI on a new three year programme of research exploring a new dental contract in Northern Ireland.
